A lot of things have happened this year that Nicola didn’t expect and this was definitely one of them…
After being asked by the team, Nicola is incredibly humbled and proud to share that she has become a trustee of Poppy’s Light Foundation.
Having worked with the charity since the beginning of the year, Nicola has already learned so much about the devastating impact of inherited cardiac conditions (ICCs) but also about the incredible difference that awareness, education and early intervention can make.
Poppy’s Light Foundation works to raise awareness of inherited cardiac conditions, educate communities, support families and ultimately help prevent other families from experiencing the unimaginable loss that Victoria and Peter have suffered.
At her first meeting with the trustees, Nicola found herself truly amazed by the passion, resilience and ambition of the team.
Around the table were mums of children living with an ICC, finance and HR experts, education and health specialists and of course, Victoria and Peter, who lost their beautiful daughter Poppy to an undiagnosed inherited cardiac condition.
Every person around the table brings different experience, expertise and perspective but they all share the same determination.
Around 12 young people die every week from an undiagnosed heart condition. That is something the Foundation is determined to change.
Poppy’s story is heartbreaking but what Victoria and Peter have created in her memory is incredibly powerful. The Foundation is committed to raising awareness, educating communities, supporting families and helping to prevent other families from experiencing the unimaginable loss they have suffered.
Nicola is incredibly proud to now be part of that journey as a trustee and is looking forward to working alongside the amazing team as the Foundation continues to grow and make a difference.
